A relatively new industry, “clean tech” or “clean technology,” is all about businesses trying to achieve environmental stability through their work. Organizations, like the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN2), are focused on helping early-stage “cleantech” startups by awarding grants.
IN2 awarded two such Massachusetts organizations — FORGE in Somerville and Browning the Green Space in Boston — with $175,000 to support the growth of their respective companies.
“The money goes to startups who are working in circular economy, net-zero operations, electrification, sustainable agriculture, or diversification of the cleantech space,” the Innovation Incubator’s website states.
The Somerville Journal profiled both the Executive Director of FORGE, Laura Teicher, and the Founder, Director, and Executive Director of Browning the Green Space (BGS), Kerry Bowie for their respective organizations’ work in the city, why what they do is important, and what they plan to do with the money they received from The Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator.
